Area 4 will fill key research gaps in the context of dynamic production networks and contribute to making data the technological and conceptual driver of innovative industrial value creation systems.

The area will focus on data integration and semantic interoperability as a prerequisite for data economy and industrial artificial intelligence (AI), in line with the recommendations of several European Industry 4.0 platforms. In particular, Area 4 aims to develop approaches for data-driven smart manufacturing that cover all phases of the production lifecycle – including:

• Product design
• Production system development
• Supply management and resource planning
• Monitoring and analysis of manufacturing processes
• Production quality control and maintenance
